This section of the site is dedicated to books about Sidney Crosby, yes several books already exist despite the fact that the super star has only played a few seasons in the NHL. The following books are about super star Sidney Crosby, a few of the authors have submitted their books for us to review and use with our web site. The others we have purchased for our Crosby memorabilia collection and to review.

Our reviews will be posted in this section along with links and info to help you purchase the books as well so that you may add them to your Crosby collection. Two young brothers from Regina meet Crosby

Two lucky young brothers, while on their family’s summer vacation in Nova Scotia, both got a chance encounter with Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby. They were visiting family near Halifax, when they found out about the special Crosby birthday / Stanley Cup celebration in his hometown of Cole Harbour. And like most of the other forty thousand people that showed up for the event, they too were hoping for a glimpse of the NHL’s biggest superstar. But they ended up getting a whole lot more.

The Cran family purchased two of the $10 posters (the one that the money went to charity), allowing them to enter their sons’ names in the special draw for a chance to meet Crosby and get a picture taken with the Cup. This was the special draw that had only 87 names selected ( matching Crosby’s number and the year he was born). And as luck would have it, Liam and JJ were both among the winning 87 names selected. One of the brothers were also only one of two people from the photo shoots to get a Crosby autograph.

Stanley Cup in Mario’s pool

We had some photos submitted to us recently revealing a real shin digg of a party at Mario Lemieux’s place where the Stanley Cup ended up going for a swim in the pool. And according to NHL Stanley Cup legends and past stories, it was not the first time that the Stanley Cup has been in Mario’s pool.

“So … how did Lord Stanley’s mug end up in the bottom of Mario’s pool? After the Pittsburgh Penguins’ first Cup win in 1991/1992, the team was invited back to Mario’s palatial home to celebrate. The house featured an in-ground swimming pool. The pool’s decorative highlight was a four-tier neon-lit waterfall. During the course of the party, Penguins goaltender Tom Barrasso climbed up the waterfall with the Cup, and had his photo taken. After much more of this, the Cup was left atop the waterfall and the party went on. Meanwhile, defenseman Phil Bourque, who had been enjoying a frosty alcoholic beverage or two, decided to scale the waterfall. According to legend, clad only in his underwear, Bourque lifted the Cup and hurled it into the pool, where it sank ignominiously to the bottom. Since that infamous day, the Cup travels with security escorts assigned by the NHL.”

Update:We have found the photos on other blogs and websites (no surprise as most email forwards travel fast …) however most have been removed out of respect to Mario (and the people in them whom we can not identify), so we have done the same. Gonchar scored at 2:19 into the third period and the Pittsburgh Penguins easily eliminated the Flyers with a 5-3 win in Game 6 against Philadelphia.

“It felt good,” said Pens captain Sidney Crosby, who scored the tying goal in the second period and had an empty-netter in the final minute. “We’ve had huge rivalries over the years. It’s a loud building. They were playing well and the crowd was into it, so to hear a little silence was gratifying.”

Crosby looks forward toward an interesting series battle against Ovechkinand the Washington Capitals. in round 2.

For those that may not know, Sidney Crosby is a young professional hockey player whom currently plays for the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey league (NHL). He was the first pick overall of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and one of the leading scorers during the 2005-06 NHL season finishing 6th in scoring with 102 points.

He is often known as the Next One and certainly is star player material as in his first season alone he led his team in scoring and has already broken team records set by Hall of Famer Mario Lemieux, and league records such as being the youngest player to reach the 100 point mark in their rookie season.

Sidney Crosby has been viewed by many as hockey’s next great talent, one who might be good enough to rival Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux, a title that many young up and coming stars have been given but have never been able to live up to.

Crosby continues to build upon his early NHL successes, still earning many firsts and continuing to break both team and league records. At the young age of 19 led the NHL with 120 points (36 goals, 84 assists) to win the Art Ross Trophy and he lead the Penguins to a 47-24-11 record and their first playoff game since the 2000-2001 season. His leadership was also recognized by the team, as they named him the team Captain in May making him the youngest team captain in NHL history.

The Sidney-Crosby.info site is interested in getting information and photos of Sidney Crosby from other fans to share with everybody (since this is a fan web site!), therefore if you have something to share with the rest of us Crosby fans then let us know and we will consider adding it to the site (as well as cite source). So if you have a photo of you and Crosby together, some info that we do not have posted, photos of a rare hockey cards that you pulled from a pack or anything else related to Sidney Crosby that is interesting and you are willing to share then we want to hear from you.
